King Street’s luxury shopping scene welcomed a new addition earlier this month with the opening of the Kate Spade New York store, right next to Louis Vuitton. Founded in 1993, Kate Spade is known for its stylish accessories, sophisticated clothing, and high-quality handbags.

The Fall 2012 collection features painted prints and bold colors in shoes, stationery, eyewear, jewelry, fragrance, bedding, gifts, and more. Polka dots are huge for fall, and Kate Spade has definitely jumped on the bandwagon — the shop is stocked with polka dot purses, shoes, and jackets.

The retailer isn’t cheap, but if you’re on a budget, you can still get a taste of Kate Spade with smaller purchases like bold colored tights priced at $28 or $40 iPhone cases.

You’re invited to stop by and sip on refreshments and take in the fall collection at the opening event hosted by InStyle magazine and local blogger Chassity Evans. The event will take place on Sat. Sept. 15 from 1-3 p.m. at 236 King St. To enjoy snacks, drinks, and 20 percent off of your entire purchase, RSVP by Sept. 12 by sending an e-mail to instyle_katespade@timeinc.com.
