Charleston has become the chosen city of South Carolina. Not for religious reasons, but for Kennedy Center President Michael Kaiser’s Arts in Crisis nationwide tour.

Kaiser is the author of The Art of the Turnaround: Creating and Maintaining Healthy Arts Organizations. He will be speaking at the Recital Hall at the Simons Center at the College of Charleston on Tues. Feb. 23. The seminar will center around challenges and opportunities facing art organizations. “He has used the principles from his book to turn around … a lot of major organizations,” Charleston Concert Association Grants Coordinator Carolyn Lackey says. “He is called the ‘turnaround king’ because he has been so successful.”

Lackey went on to say that this event is a great opportunity for local organizations to hear Kaiser speak, ask questions, and get feedback. The seminar will take place from 9-11 a.m. and is free, but you must register in advance. There will also be a lunch following the seminar at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park. To register, e-mail or call the CCA office at (843) 727-1216.
