If we were to film a scene for a Bond film in Charleston, we’d pick Vintage Lounge (545 King St.). The new wine bar from Nathan Wheeler and business partner Mike Shuler (Blind Tiger, Midtown, and Trio) is 007 chic from its gilded ceiling to its wraparound marble bar. Of course in this telling, James would likely skip his martini for a full bodied red, perhaps a Willamette Sotor Pinot Noir.

Tonight, Vintage becomes more than the stuff of our cinematic daydreams and opens to the public. Wheeler says that after a successful soft opening last night, the Vintage team is ready.

So what can you expect beside an attractive setting designed by B. Berry Interiors? Well, wine, of course. Wheeler cut his somm teeth at Charleston Grill before working for Fanny and Patrick Panella at Bin 152, and envisions Vintage as a place to for both oenophiles and novices alike to discover great bottles.

Vintage Lounge also features a light menu with charcuterie and cheese in addition to a small dessert list.

Vintage opens tonight at 5 p.m. and will be open daily from 5 p.m.-2 a.m.
