The FBI released 2006 hate crime data. There isn’t much change from what the data has shown in the past few years.

Crimes motivated by sexual orientation accounted for more than 15 percent of the hate crimes reported nationally.

In South Carolina, they made up 21 percent of the hate crimes reported.

Goose Creek, North Charleston and the College of Charleston each reported only one hate crime — all motivated by sexual orientation.
