Game over, Henry
When hospital volunteers are pushed upfront while the directors tuck in behind them so both can cut in line ahead of everyone else to get the vaccine to protect themselves, this part of the civil order has broken down. To claim that they are interacting with the public in a health-care setting is the flimsiest of rationalizations offered for this unbridled act of self-interest.
Back in the spring, we were all essential. Get ready to push your way forward to claim essential status again and get the shot.
Our governor is on the horns of a dilemma. Does he take the public-health reins early enough to staunch the variant(s) circulating among us and order genuine public health actions to contain the wildfire? Or does he step up and tell us who is essential? Either way, he is done for.
