Charleston-based designer Lindsey Carter, a finalist in the 2009 Charleston Fashion Week Emerging Designer Competition, is featured in today’s edition of Women’s Wear Daily. The article is titled “Fresh Takes: New York Designers to Watch,” and talks about her Troubadour line.

Lindsey graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She went on to work at J. Crew and Madewell before moving back to the Carolinas. Though the short article makes no mention of it, Lindsey made a strong showing at CFW with her “elegant punk” line, featuring pops of yellow and purple.

“Carter uses a bright, saturated palette on spare, simple silhouettes: easy cocktail dresses and jumpsuits. And though she plans on eventually expanding into separates, the designer is content to keep her collection frock-centric for now,” WWD writer Venessa Lau reports.
