You might see some extra cameras and crews around town this summer and no, they do not belong to Army Wives. It was announced late last month that the feature Little Red Wagon would film in the Lowcountry, and Assistant Production Office Coordinator Debbie L. Hewett recently sent out a plea for assistance in finding temporary furnished apartments from May 17 through July 3.
The film is based on the true story of Tampa, Fla. resident Zachary Bonner, who, inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Charlie, started the Little Red Wagon foundation at the age of six to distribute backpacks full of supplies to underprivileged and homeless kids. Bonner has made several 200-plus mile walks to draw attention to homeless youth. The film was written by Patrick Sheane Duncan (Mr. Holland’s Opus, Courage Under Fire) and will be directed by David Anspaugh (Hoosiers, Rudy).
