[embed-1] Recently online lifestyle and interior design community, Apartment Therapy, featured the colorful, cozy bungalow home of local artist Chambers Austelle. Highlighting Austelle’s use of color — both on her walls and in her work — and her love of plants, her sweet dog Piper, and open floor plan, Apartment Therapy hits on all the high notes of a 1,374 sq. foot downtown Charleston home.

Austelle, a talented contemporary artist best known for capturing the faces of women, is also the woman behind the Carolopolis Awards. That’s right, Austelle literally creates the awards that are presented to property owners whose historical homes meet the Preservation Society’s standards.

In a brief Q&A with Apartment Therapy, Austelle laments the challenges of dog hair, celebrates the recent purchase of a vintage rug, and advises those who want to re-create her style to “mix and match new with old.”

This isn’t the first time a local Charleston creative/business owner has been featured in Apartment Therapy. Last year AT featured Haegur plant shop owner, BJ Stadelman’s “muted folky boho” home.
