  • Campbell Brown and Gaslight Street at the First Flush Festival, 2011

Thanks to singer/guitarist Campbell Brown of local band Gaslight Street for the heads-up on this weekend’s First Flush Festival on Wadmalaw Island. The City Paper was wondering who might be on the roster for this year’s outdoor music ’n’ tea festival.

On Sun. May 20, the Charleston Tea Plantation and Clear Channel Communications will present the sixth annual First Flush at the plantation’s lush grounds (6617 Maybank Hwy.). It’s an annual celebration of the first tea harvest of the season. The sponsors have nicknamed it the “FesTEAval.”

Musical acts (in order of appearance) include singer/songwriter Annalise Morelli, roots-pop singer/guitarist Matt MacKelcan, melodic rock combo the Tyler Boone Band, soul/blues-tinged rock band Gaslight Street, veteran rock/Americana group the Blue Dogs, and collegiate funk/reggae-rock band Long Miles. The live music runs from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are available for $15 at etix.com and the Charleston Tea Plantation (call 843-559-0383, ext. 206). Admission is $20 at the gate. Kids 10 and under get in for free (there’s a free kids area with waterslide as well). No coolers are allowed. Leashed dogs are welcome. Visit charlestonteaplantation.com for more.
