The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker returns to Charleston on Dec. 26 at the North Charleston Coliseum, and they’ll be using local ballet students in the production. In September and October, budding ballet dancers ages 7 to 16 were auditioned by and rehearsed with Moscow Ballet soloists for the roles of snowflakes, mice, and snow maidens. Students hav
e since been preparing at the Summerville Civic Ballet and will have a full dress rehearsal with the Russian company before the show.

The Moscow Ballet has performed with kids across the country since 1993 to encourage and expose young dancers to experts in their field. Two performances will be held, at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with tickets starting at $29. Buy yours at nutcracker.com.
