Funky local quartet the Louie D. Project is putting the final touches on a forthcoming studio album. Saxophonist and lead singer Louis Dixson and his backing band — drummer Paul Walls, bassist Jesse Anderson, and guitarist J.R. Getches — regularly play a mix of soul, classic pop, hip-hop, rock, and funk standards around town.

The quartet has worked up an original set of material for several studio sessions at Charleston Sound, Pendleton Studios, and Collective Recording Studio and over the spring and summer. The 10-song album, titled Outta Control, will be available at shows and online later this month.

Dixson was nominated for the Horn Player of the Year category in this month’s City Paper Music Awards. The band was nominated for Funk/Soul/R&B Artist of the Year.
