The Lowdown Oven and Bar plans to open its doors at 967 Folly Road on Tues. Aug. 27.

The former Andolini’s spot has been undergoing extensive renovations, according to new owner Danny Porter. “We couldn’t ignore the six-foot standing pizza oven, so we are keeping pizza but modernizing it,” he says. The menu will also include sandwiches, salads, and snacks. A garage door leads to a freshly renovated, covered patio, and customers can also dine inside or at the bar.

Porter and his business partner, Taylor Styron, will be working at the Lowdown everyday.

“You won’t walk in without seeing one of us. I’ll spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and Taylor will be behind the bar,” says Porter, who was an operating partner at T-Bonz for 10 years. A few menu items are still being finalized. Porter says, “Fifty-three years ago, this space opened as a Hardee’s.”

According to their Facebook page, the restaurant is currently hiring. Apply in person this week between 1 and 4 p.m.
