The folks at the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center are full of big news this week. In addition to announcing two big fall shows at the Coliseum — Dave Matthews Band and Alan Jackson — they issued another big concert: Lyle Lovett and His Large Band are set to return to the PAC at 7:30 p.m. on Thurs. Nov. 18. That’s great news for fans of the soft-spoken Texas-based songwriter, but lousy news for Lovett fans who might love Alan Jackson, too (Jackson’s plating at the Coliseum next door on the same night).

Lovett has 14 solo albums in his vast catalog. His connection to the Austin and Texas songwriting scene runs quite deep. In 2007, the acclaimed Songwriters Tour brought Lovett together with long-time pals Joe Ely, Guy Clark, and John Hiatt for a well-attended show at the PAC. Lovett came back the next year for a set with his Large Band in support of the album It’s Not Big, It’s Large. His latest solo album is the 12-song Natural Forces.

Reserved seats for Lovett’s show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Fri. Sept. 17. They’ll be available at the box office, Ticketmaster outlets (including select Publix stores), by phone at (800) 745-3000, and online at
