When you are married for 50 years, the traditional gift is gold. So when it’s the Super Bowl’s 50th, you deserve more than just microwavable nachos and lukewarm beer (especially if your team is playing). Come out to Charleston’s lively bar scene this Sunday, Feb. 7 and take advantage of Super Bowl specials and giveaways. If your place of business is kickin’ off Sunday with some great deals, let us know by emailing connelly@charlestoncitypaper.com.

What’s better than sushi? The Super Bowl and sushi. At Locals Bar (1150 Queensborough Blvd Apt B., Mt. Pleasant), start off the night with edamame ($4) and shrimp dumplings ($6) while watching the game. Don’t forget to enter the raffle. Local’s is pairing up with Palmetto Brewery to give away a cruise for two during the game.

The best way to show your team pride is a wing eating contest. At Bay Street Biergarten (549 E Bay St), home of 70 beers on tap, the first 10 people to sign up in the contest will compete for a $50 gift card. Think about it, even if you don’t win, you still get free wings. If competition eating isn’t your style, at 3 p.m. the Biergarten will start a free bier pong Tournament with a first place prize of $100 house cash. Don’t feel like competing? Order 50 wings for $50 to last the Super Bowl, sit back and play Super Bowl referee from inside Bay St. Biergarten.

The Alley (131 Columbus St) isn’t all about bowling. They also love football. With a menu created just for Sunday, the Alley is throwing a party featuring Carolina Brewery and Belgium Brewery. The event, which is open to the public (and has no cover charge),also boasts $12 buckets of Bud Light for your Super Bowl viewing pleasure. Have a go at Super Bowl Squares which will benefit the Ronald McDonald House — a $10 donation gets you a shot at winning Garth Brooks tickets, a $500 Alley gift card, and more.

King Street Grille, with their HD TVs, is primed and ready for the Super Bowl,. Not only are they giving away a 48” TV in a raffle but any place that has Mac and Cheese Rolls ($9.99), with three different types of cheese, bacon and ranch, is on our radar. Wash down their Santa Fe Burger ($10.99) with smoked gouge cheese and bacon, with one of their large selection of draft beers.

Watch the Big Game at The Roost (825 Savannah Hwy.) where a big tent tailgate party, big screen TVs, an ice luge, jello shots, smoked wings, and bucket specials will help you cheer on whatever team suits your fancy.

Party on Shem Creek with Super Bowl specials at the Shelter like $1 Bud and Bud Light drafts and $2.50 Shocktop drafts. If you’re feelin’ real good take part in $3 shots like Fireball, Jager, Cherryshine, and more. Hop over the creek to RB‘s where a $10 wristband scores you access to hors d’oeuvres. $3 house liquor, and $2 house wine and beer.

Get rowdy at Mac’s Place where their Super Bowl shenanigans include $8 PBR pitchers, $12 domestic buckets, and $3 draft Yuenglings.
