There’s a reason you see so many people on bikes in downtown Charleston. The compact area and good weather make for perfect biking conditions. The City of Charleston Civic Design Center and the Clemson Architecture Center at Charleston are working together on a project to improve and promote cycling downtown with a free lecture series.
Cycling enthusiasts may have heard of Dave Moulton, the series’ latest speaker. On Thurs. Feb. 25 from 7-9 p.m., he’ll present a lecture titled “The Bicycle: Evolution or Intelligent Design?” at Southend Brewery.
Starting in 1957 through his retirement in 1993, Moulton has made his mark designing and building bicycle frames. He began his own frame-building business in England in ’76, but later emigrated to the U.S. after receiving orders from the States due to the growing popularity of cycling as a sport. Since then, he has worked under a number of different names and labels, Fuso being his own. This lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, call (843) 853-4677.
