Charleston Ballet Theatre has some big plans for their upcoming performance of Masterpieces of Dance, which hits the stage for one night only on Feb. 13. The show pays homage to modern ballet master George Balanchine with two of his most celebrated works, “Serenade” and “Rubies,” from Balanchine’s Jewels ballet. Jerri Kumery, a ballet master from Richmond Ballet, will help coach the performance. CBT is also bringing to town “The Lark Ascending,” from one of the ballet world’s “living person legends,” choreographer Bruce Marks. Marks himself will be in Charleston later this month to oversee rehearsals leading up to the performance. Call (843) 723-7334 or go to charlestonballet.org for more info.
