McCrady’s kicked off their new Sundays at McCrady’s series this weekend, featuring a three-course dinner and a performance from local entertainers. Upstairs in the Long Room, mostly couples gathered for the evening, which had a romantic theme in honor of V-Day. Headed up by Musical Director Robbi Kenney, who switched between the piano and violin, the six performers presented love songs between the delectable courses. Both Krissy McKown and Rachel Hedrick were recognizable from the recent production of Reefer Madness, and Ansley Lucas blew us away with her operatic range. Given a choice between two or three selections per course, I went with a buttery popcorn soup, a nice steak, and a chocolate tart for dessert. My companion tried the bread pudding with whiskey ice cream, which may have given him more of a buzz than his cocktail. The series continues with monthly themes through April, and Kenney says if they keep drawing a crowd, they’ll continue indefinitely. For just $45, we don’t know how it couldn’t be a hit.
