Phil Haynie and Noel Poindexter opened a Menchie’s, “the ultimate customizable frozen yogurt experience,” in Mt. Pleasant a few weeks back, officially making frozen yogurt the hottest trend this side of craft beer and locavorism.
Menchie’s customers help themselves to an unlimited mix of yogurt and toppings at a self-serve station with more than 100 rotating yogurt flavors from cake batter and pomegranate tart to chocolate silk and vanilla snow, and more than 70 rotating toppings including fresh fruits, granolas, nuts, an assortment of candy and hot fudge. Think 32 Degrees with a fun Asian theme.
In July of this year, Restaurant Business Magazine awarded Menchie’s first place in their annual “Future 50” list, ranking the yogurt emporium the fastest-growing franchise in the restaurant industry. The new location in Mt. Pleasant is the first in South Carolina and is on Long Point Road in the Harris Teeter shopping center.
