President Joe Biden today is expected to give an update on the U.S. response to the emerging Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus, which appears to have started in southern Africa and is spreading globally. Federal health officials, saying the pandemic is far from over, are urging unvaccinated Americans to get immunized as a way of protecting themselves from the new, infectious variant strain of the virus.
