Soapmaker Andrea Davis of Motherland Essentials has launched a Kickstarter to help move her business into a new space — one with air conditioning and more room for production as well as the ability to hire others to help Motherland Essentials expand.

With a week left to raise $15,000, Motherland Essentials could use your help to make this brick and mortar space a reality. You can donate to Motherland Essentials online now.

After almost two years working out of her garage, Davis knows her business needs a dedicated space in Summerville to properly scale her brand. Davis said that she hopes to create livable-wage job opportunities, provide free pick up options and offer skincare education in the community.

Davis said that funds raised through this campaign will pay for furniture, display shelving, a commercial freezer, commercial mixers, an upgraded oil and wax tank and raw bulk materials.

Davis started making soap as a coping mechanism in 2014 after the loss of her infant son. She quit her job and turned her kitchen into a soapmaking space, mixing batches of soap and bath products for her friends and family. By 2017 this hobby had turned into a business, Motherland Essentials.
