On Tuesday, Feb. 16, Bakies at I’On owner Gail Holdcraft will hold a grand opening at her bakery’s new location eight years to the day after she debuted the original Bakies on West Coleman Boulevard, which closed in January 2020. Bakies, which held a soft opening in December 2020, takes over the space previously occupied by Sweet Olive, a home decor and garden shop that closed last year.

Bakies at I ‘On offers an assortment of made-in-house cupcakes, cookies, truffles, breads, bagels and more, along with custom-made wedding cakes in over 35 different flavors. Patrons who stop by on Feb. 16 will receive a coupon for a free cookie, a press release said.

“I feel blessed when we are asked to create custom cakes and decorative shortbread cookies for family events — particularly when these celebrations span multiple generations,” Holdcraft said in the release. “From a childhood birthday cake to providing a wedding cake, a gender reveal cake, or other baked goods for family celebrations and business openings and anniversaries — beautiful and delicious sweets make people happy.”

Bakies initial operating hours are Monday-Friday from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information, visit bakiessc.com
