City Paper photo by Ruta Smith.

Here’s a new local mystery photo recently taken by a City Paper staffer. What and were is it? The 12th person who correctly guesses this week’s mystery, “On the side of the road,” will win some City Paper swag. To enter (one entry per person), send your guess, name and hometown in an email to: mystery@charlestoncitypaper.com.

LAST WEEK’S MYSTERY: There were lots of great guesses about the location of last week’s mystery, “Live oaks.” Some people thought the allee of oaks was at White Point Gardens. Nope. Or on Johns Island, Hampton Park or Daniel Island. Nope. Nope. Nope. The photo, sent by reader Lauren Swann of San Diego, Calif., showed oaks along Ann Street near Meeting Street in Wragg Park. Congratulations to Jim Sloggatt of Charleston for being the 20th person to correctly guess the mystery. We’re sending him a little City Paper swag for his winning entry.

Every Monday, the City Paper offers a mystery photo taken somewhere in the Lowcountry. We encourage you to guess — and make sure to share your name and the town in which you live. We’ll uncover the mystery the following week and, every now and then, give a prize.

Bonus: If you want to submit a mystery photo taken by you for us to share, send it to our mystery email address. Make sure to put “Submission” in the subject line.

Enjoy!
