Alt-rock band Needtobreathe — a Charleston-based act that’s rarely ever at home — celebrated the long-awaited released of a new studio album The Reckoning (Atlantic) on Sept. 20. The band is currently streaming the lead single “Drive All Night” on its website.
Singer/guitarist Bear Rinehart, brother/guitarist Bryant Rinehart, bassist Seth Bolt, and drummer Joe Stillwell have lived the rock star life on the road this spring and summer. In May, they embarked on a 19-week North American trek after being hand-picked by popular singer Taylor Swift to be the opening act on most of her Speak Now tour, which landed in stadiums and amphitheaters across the U.S. They’ll continue to tour together through November.
Needtobreathe hit another milestone this month as they made their late-night television debut on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Sept. 14 (Leno introduced them as a “South Carolina band”). They open for Swift at the Philips Arena in Atlanta on Oct. 1-2. The acts swing through the Carolinas in November with concerts at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Nov. 16, at the RBC Center in Raleigh, and at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on Nov. 18.
