Charleston Hemp Collective has teamed up with Big Hair Dave of local reggae group The Dubplates to host the first-ever 420 Charleston day festival at Holy City Brewing April 20.

The event celebrates the many wonders of cannabis, CBD and hemp with an evening of music starting at 7 p.m. The lineup for 420 Charleston includes Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, local chart-topping reggae band, The Dubplates and local DJ collective, Strawberry Squad.

“We’re using all of our resources to put together this signature 4/20 event in Charleston to highlight everything that beautiful plant has to offer and pull together some of my musical friends,” Dave “Big Hair” Brisacher told City Paper.

“Holy City Brewing is an awesome venue with the new event space right there on the water,” Brisacher said. “It will be an annual thing for people to look forward to every 4/20, and it’s going to keep getting bigger and bigger.”

Strawberry Squad will open up the evening of music with original DJ sets, followed by The Dubplates’ Lowcountry reggae before Chali 2na and Mix Master Mike take the stage.

“Mike is just going to take it to the stratosphere,” Brisacher said. “It’s probably going be the most ridiculous Wednesday.”

Mix Master Mike concurred: “Everyone prepare yourselves.”

Tickets for 420 Charleston are available through City Paper.
