  • The Carolina Chocolate Drops, 2011

Look for a couple of new faces on stage when Durham, N.C.-based acoustic combo the Carolina Chocolate Drops return to town.

Singers and string players Dom Flemons and Rhiannon Giddens formed the group in 2005 with Justin Robinson. They specialize in traditional African-American folk music and earned acclaim with the releases of Dona Got a Ramblin’ Mind in 2007 and Genuine Negro Jig in 2010. The trio headlined Spoleto Festival USA’s Festival Finale at Middleton Place in 2010.

Earlier this year, citing fatigue from constant touring and a desire for new academic pursuits, Robinson announced his departure from the band. Beatboxer/percussionist Adam Matta and multi-instrumentalist Hubby Jenkins officially joined the Drops in February.

The new lineup hits the Music Farm on Wed. Nov. 30. Advance tickets are available for $16.
