It’s no secret that January is dead in Charleston. To combat empty dining rooms, local restaurants have been rolling out the deals. Here are a couple to think about.

39 Rue de Jean has brought back half-off burgers on Sundays. There’s no better way to combat the winter doldrums than with a greasy, house-ground, cooked-to-perfection burger with sea-salty pommes frites. The deal begins this Sunday at 10 a.m. and will run through Super Bowl Sunday.

The Maverick Group is offering a swell of a deal at its three restaurants. Get 3 courses for $30 throughout the entire month of January at High Cotton, Slightly North of Broad, and Old Village Post House in Charleston (also at the High Hammock in Pawley’s). Choose your appetizer, entree, and dessert from a menu that changes nightly. At SNOB, a sample menu starts you out with pork belly followed by triggerfish and a dessert of chocolate pudding pie. Yum.

To celebrate 2010, Circa 1886 has put together a deal that includes an appetizer and two glasses of wine. For $20.10, you can impress a date with a nice, no-commitment-needed nosh.

The big deal of the month comes with Restaurant Week Jan. 11-17, many restaurants — including the Maverick Groups and Circa 1886 — will be offering 3-for-$30 deals all across the state. If you’re jonesing for a night out, but made a resolution to be more frugal this year, well then, here’s your excuse to go out to eat. The deals are too good to pass up!
