Longtime Mt. Pleasant pizza parlor A Dough Re Mi Pizzeria — located at 1220 Ben Sawyer Blvd. in the Sea Island Shopping center — closed down on Tuesday night, April 6.

Owners Dave and Beth Clark posted a brief announcement on the venue’s website: “Although A Dough Re Mi closed the Mount Pleasant location on April 6, we hope to reopen soon at a new location in the Charleston area. Everyone, thank you for 14 amazing years so far.”

In addition to serving New York-style pizzas, stuffed slices, calzones, and gyros — along with a variety of subs, pastas, wings, and bar fare — A Dough Re Mi specialized in hosting a variety of live music, open mic nights, and karaoke events. Local an visiting acts would play blues, soul, Americana, metal, and indie-rock throughout the years. Recently, the Dough became the home of the Lowcountry Blues Club’s weekly showcase gig, as well as the annual March Madness Battle of the Bands and Lowcountry Blues Bash events.

Talent buyer and sound man Stuart Johnson says the Clarks are already looking at new facilities in West Ashley and Mt. Pleasant, and they plan to reopen the restaurant as soon as possible.
