[image-1]If you’ve lived in Charleston since the late ’90s or longer you likely remember the joy of walking down King past Society Street and smelling freshly baked bread. That fragrance was the work of Normandy Farm Artisan Bakery who opened their first location there in 1999. Well, it’s a happy homecoming today as the third outpost of the bakery (there’s also one 32 Windermere Blvd. and at 19 Broad St.) opened this morning back at 84 Society, just two doors down from its original location. And to celebrate owner Mike Ray and team are giving away free coffee and pastries today.
We popped by this morning for an egg and cheese biscuit (thank you kindly), and found the space large and welcoming with plenty of tables and, of course, outlets for all you freelancers. The usual Normandy Farm items are there, including the aforementioned breakfast sandwiches, croissants, cakes, and quiches. But Ray also has plans to add toasts with various toppings. He’s also purchased an orange juicer for fresh OJ that is possibly just as fun to watch as it is to drink. (Parents, bring your kids, they’ll be mesmerized by the juicer.)
The store will be open Mon.-Sat., 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all your pastry needs.
