If you end up on Folly this weekend for the Sea and Sand Festival and haven’t been to Black Magic Cafe yet, be sure to check it out. This little hole in the wall is doing big things. One of which is providing a big old patio for relaxing and enjoying a little coffee or beer. And soon, they’ll be serving dinner too.
“Black Magic Cafe wants to be your destination for a good cup of coffee on Folly Beach. “There were no other coffee shops on Folly, and we took the opportunity to provide a unique experience to everyone who comes in,” says Krista Lubold. “We’re a hole in the wall, but we cater to everyone’s needs.”

Black Magic is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for breakfast, lunch, and Sunday brunch. “Everything is local, including our King Bean coffee,” Lubold says.
New Chef Bill DeRoche (T-Bonz, Sesame) has packed his menu with creative sandwiches and plates, which all serve hormone-free meats and free-range eggs. One of his most popular dishes is the Sandbar Special, a falafel patty served on one of Saffron Bakery’s brioche buns with red peppers, cucumber, feta cheese, tzatziki, and sweet potato fries. And if you find yourself on Folly around brunch time, make sure you try the croissant french toast.
The menu also has salads, burgers, and children’s options. Beverage offerings include standard cappuccinos, lattes, and espresso, and a few extras like fruit smoothies and beer from Westbrook Brewery.
This May, Black Magic will open for in the evening for dinner, cocktails, and live music.
