New Disc: Number One Contender

It has been long in the works — local rock quintet Number One Contender’s new studio album Closer — a follow-up to their debut disc The Album. The band worked with local studio producer Eric Bass (of Shinedown) for several months at Ocean Industries Studio, then mixed 10 songs with Grammy award-winning producer/mixer Skidd Mills and mastered the album with engineer Brad Blackwood. The final result is a well-polished and aggressive collection set for independent release this month. The band — lead vocalist Reid Johnson, guitarists Alan Price and Damon Jackson, bassist Jonathan Holt, and drummer Paul Huck — have a big CD release show planned at the Music Farm for Sat. Oct. 18 with support from Souls Harbor and DJ Moo Moo. Admission ($10 advance and $13 day-of-show) includes a free copy of the new album.
