The state legislature approved a bill Thursday giving students the opportunity to go to the public school of their choice. Great day? Well, almost.

“We’ve got some very serious concerns about the bill,” said Joel Sawyer, Gov. Mark Sanford’s spokesman. “Our view is that this bill would provide an illusion of school choice.”

I said before that I didn’t think the legislature wasn’t crazy enough to sabotage this thing and I’d like to give Sanford the same credit. But he’s a wild card with no fear of facing the voters again.
