[slideshow-1]Space was the place for last night’s Best of Charleston Party that included its fair share of good, old-fashioned hobnobbery and even a little extraterrestrial debauchery. Elbows were rubbed, whistles were wet, and more than a few UFOs were spotted on the dance floor at the Gaillard Center for this year’s celebration. Now, after an evening of intergalactic revelry, we have returned crashing back to earth. Help us, ibuprofen. You’re our only hope.
Phasers were set to stun as Best Of winners and other distinguished guests donned their best alien wear. The event featured more than its fair share of doctors Who, captains Kirk, and Maxes mad. With the walls lined with food and drink vendors, Captain’s Comics set up shop to give the night that convention feel. The proud men and women of the 501st Legion Carolina Garrison and the Rebel Legion met guests at the door to welcome them to a galaxy far, far away.
Space jams were provided by DJ NattyHeavy, and the Dubplates served as the best cantina band this side of Mos Eisley. Break-dancer Kyle “K-Otic” Johnson defied gravity and even defended his crown during an impromptu dance battle — because, of course, there were dance battles.
As they say, it takes a village to raise a star child, and it takes the support of many proud sponsors and vendors to throw a Best of Charleston Party:
