Noshers, freeloaders, and art lovers, lend me your ears: I’ve just learned that the opening reception for Piccolo’s two centerpiece visual arts exhibitions — from Fletcher Crossman and poster artist Elaine Berlin — have been moved from Sun. May 20, to tonight, Fri. May 18.

[image-1]Originally scheduled for this Sunday 4-6 p.m. at the City Gallery at the Dock Street Theatre, the Elaine Berlin Invitational Exhibition will now open tonight with a free public reception from 5-7 p.m. at the gallery. Elaine Berlin, the Piccolo Spoleto 2007 poster artist, is showing a collection of new works including the official Piccolo image, [image-2]“Rembrandt’s Favorite.”

Fletcher Crossman, a British realist artist who now lives and works in Charleston, produces large-scale figurative works based on his surroundings. The opening reception for his exhibition Illuminations in the Shadows — which takes over the entire City Gallery at Waterfront Park — now goes down tonight from 6-8 pm at the gallery.
