I can’t come up with an intro for this because I am too infuriated that all of these people:

1. have done almost nothing to close the Charleston Loophole, which allowed the shooter to buy a gun
2. seemed to have all but forgotten the living survivors of the tragedy who now have to live with this trauma.

Since Emanuel there have been 1,119 other victims of mass shootings. Anyway, here are some politicians sending thoughts and prayers instead of sensible gun control.

U.S. Rep Joe Cunningham, S.C. District 1

Voted for and helped Rep. Jim Clyburn push to close the loophole. [embed-3]

Sen. Tim Scott, S.C.

In the wake of the Parkland Shooting where seventeen students and staff were killed on Valentine’s Day, 2018, Scott introduced a bill that expands federal funding for schools if they invest in school safety. Otherwise, he has indicated on Project Vote Smart polling that he opposes restricting gun purchases and possession, would like to loosen restrictions on interstate gun purchases, and more. in 2014, he had an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association. [embed-9]

Sen. Lindsey Graham, S.C.

Absolutely nothing. Instead of remembering and reflecting on the tragedy that happened in his district, he tweeted about Nancy Pelosi. When Representative Clyburn’s bill passed the House, he warned that he would not be taking it up as the head of the Senate Judiciary Committee

Rep. Jim Clyburn, S.C. District 6

Jim Clyburn has yet to tweet anything regarding the fourth anniversary of the shooting, but he did push the House’s bill to close the Charleston loophole.

S.C. Rep Nancy Mace, District 99

In 2013, the website for her Senate run said explicitly that “debate over gun rights and gun control ended with the Second Amendment.” [embed-8]
