The online news site gave a round of calls to the big political strategists in the state to gauge reaction on a potential primary challenge form Carroll Campbell III for Congressman Henry Brown’s 1st congressional seat. Brown’s office suggests he will be running. I’d say that Campbell’s early fundraising may well tell the tale of whether Brown actually does run again.

The Politico piece also makes this note, but misses a key point that only bolster’s the argument against Brown.

While Brown also starts out with a financial advantage, ending last year with $461,000 in his campaign account, the district’s changing population complicates his predicament. The fastest-growing county in the 1st District is also the most populous — and many of those new voters are unfamiliar with Brown’s record of bringing home the bacon.

The county the story is referring to is Charleston, which went to Linda Ketner in November. I’m sure that fact will be out front by Campbell and others.
