What is it? Part of Piccolo Spoleto’s Traditional Music of the Old South series, “Praise House” is a genuine local treat, led by acclaimed vocalist Ann Caldwell & The Magnolia Singers.

Why see it? This audience-interactive event features Gullah lingo, folk music, poetry, and old-time Carolina stories. Caldwell describes it as “more like an experience than a show.” Both concerts will offer “as many lessons in history and language as songs and sing-alongs.” It doesn’t get much more spiritually authentic than this.

Who should go? Those with an interest in Gullah/Geechee culture, the African-American experience in the Carolinas, and the roots of gospel and blues music.
