Attention soft-shell crab shoppers: Christmas has come early. The softies have arrived. At least at The Grocery, that is. We’re told Chef Kevin Johnson will have them on his menu beginning Friday.
Also, over at Cypress, Chef Craig Deihl had a batch last week. He posted to Instagram, “Earliest I’ve ever gotten soft crabs. #globalwarmingisreal”
We checked in to see if he has any now and he says, “I got 72 last Wednesday — gone in two days. Trying to get more but last weekend’s cold weather slowed them down. Hoping to get more real soon.”
So keep an eye out, Charleston. And we’ll keep you posted on where to get those softies as we hear.
