Canadian stadium-rock band Nickelback have confirmed a date for the North Charleston Coliseum on Thurs. March 15 (dat’s a three-and-a-half-month heads-up for ya dere, eh?). Fronted by singer/guitaist Chad Kroeger – and now featuring former 3 Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair – they’re touring behind their fourth and most recent studio album, All the Right Reasons. Tickets are on sale now for $44.50. Call the Coliseum box office at 554-6060 or check the usual Ticketmaster outlets.
STUART STEPS ASIDE
Longtime booking agent, sound guy, promoter, guitarist with Allnightkungfu, and all-around live band cheerleader Stuart Johnson has left his position at Mt. Pleasant pizza parlor and rock venue A Dough Re Mi. For nearly two years, he booked a variety of rock, metal, blues, indie, and jazz acts and arranged and oversaw a pretty successful local “battle of the bands” event. “I am leaving for many reasons,” he announced last week. “My personal life and my own music require more of my attention … and I didn’t have the budget that I needed [to promote many of the shows]. I’ve loved every note of music that I’ve heard on that stage. To Handgun Sonata, Steve Hit Mike, Damiera, Speria, Belligerent, Catala, Moonless Moth, Marv Ward, Christopher Dean, Jeff Liberty, Hitman, and many others – thanks for your music; it certainly touched my soul.” There are still a handful of rock shows on the schedule (see www.adoughremi.com), but no word at what direction they’ll aim beyond the holidays.
