[image-1]CJ DeLuca and Andrew Barnes of Drunk Couples, John Peace of Godwin Falcon, and Jim O’Connor of No came together last November to form Florida Man, a noise-fueled post-hardcore band that contrasts with the more mellow Sunshine State vibe.

Now group is set to release its debut album, recorded by Zac Thomas at Columbia’s Jam Room Studios, on Fri. May 26.

“Musically we drew from noisy, riffy bands like Drive Like Jehu, Q and Not U, Botch, Faraquet, Ceremony, and These Arms Are Snakes,” Barnes says. “Lyrically, Jim was pulling from bands like Pissed Jeans and The Jesus Lizard.”

Florida Man, which lives at the punk-rock intersection of rowdy and volatile, will perform the eponymous album at Burns Alley on Fri. June 2 with Columbia-based Vacation State and Charleston’s Townhouse.

Tickets will run you $5 at the door. You can RSVP to the show here, and you can pre-game with the band’s new single “Wet Brain” below.
