Two court updates today.
First, Thomas Ravenel, charged with distributing cocaine for free to his friends, will be sentenced on Jan. 28. His lawyers are asking for no jail time, it’s unclear whether he’s provided the kind of information to investigators needed to make that reasonable. Ravenel is likly facing up to four years in jail.
Second, Ahmed Mohamed, one of the defendants who was charged with carrying explosives across state lines last year, has fired the attorney hired for him by the Egyptian government. Mohamed was pulled over in Goose Creek last year and was later found to have made an instructional video on making homemade bombs that he posted on YouTube. Mohamed is set to go to court in March.
