You know what we don’t have enough of in Charleston? Eating contests.

We’ve got the spicy tuna roll challenge at Bushido, and every once in a while an oyster-eating contest will crop up, but eating contests are a unique modern sport that we should have more of around here. A couple weeks ago, Center Pointe Bar and Grill in North Charleston threw down the gauntlet with a challenge to eat their monster 5-pound hamburger (we plan on sending the skinniest guy we know out there to try choking this beast down).

And suddenly, another challenge has cropped up. The Charleston Crab House on James Island is getting creative and hosting a Snow Crab Eating Contest on Friday, Dec. 18.

It costs $25 to enter. You’ve got to be 18 years old, and you can’t be allergic to crab. Or, you could be, but then you’d be a total dumbass for entering a crableg eating contest.

Whoever eats the most crab in 30 minutes wins a 32-inch flatscreen television, and the honor of calling yourself a challenger to Takeru Kobayashi (you know, the Japanese hotdog eating champion of the world).
