Report from RockStock 2009

The CofC’s Student Public Relations Club hosted the second-annual 7ff0/1240331594-rockstock.jpg

RockStock ’09 took over the Charleston Visitor Center Bus Shed last Friday night, with four local and regional bands who took full advantage of the outdoor venue and lack of volume restrictions. The five bucks cover charge went straight from guests hands to the budget of Carolina Empowerment Group, a non-profit dedicated to increasing awareness and education of HIV/Aids.

With the price of a ticket, the first hundred or so of-age attendees received a free glass of Firefly Vodka, generously donated by the local company for the fund-raiser orchestrated by CofC’s chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). However, drinks ran out about the time the third band, local faves Battle Royale), took the stage. “>Cougar Magnum followed, and Number One Contender wrapped up the concert before many moved over to Charleston Beer Works for the after-party.

The event drew a large crowd, and for good reason, with the low admission price, cheap beer, four bands, and the knowledge that all the fun was ultimately helping a worthy cause, it was hard to say no.
