Boone Hall’s summer concert series concludes on Labor Day Weekend with a massive, rain-or-shine barbecue festival and an authentic bluegrass/old-time music showcase on Sun. Sept. 6 with world-famous singer/mandolinist Ricky Skaggs and his band The Kentucky Thunder.

The lineup includes Andy Leftwich (fiddle), Cody Kilby (lead guitar), Mark Fain (bass), Paul Brewster (vocals, guitar), and Jim Mills (banjo). Skaggs recently completed a terrific new solo album titled Ricky Skaggs Solo (Songs My Dad Loved), which is due out Sept. 15 on Skaggs Family Records. The singer/string player assembled the acoustic collection as a tribute to his father, Hobert Skaggs, who taught him to play mandolin at a very young age. The album displays the 14-time Grammy winner’s incredible skills.

Soulful N.C. act The Carolina Chocolate Drops will perform an opening set. No coolers or pets allowed. Beer, wine, and a wide variety of ‘cue will be available for purchase. Tickets are available for $20 (adults) and $8 (kids).
