Mex 1 Coastal Cantina knows this New Year’s Eve celebration will be different than years past — especially with bars and restaurants closing at 11 p.m. before the ball drops — so beverage director Morgan Hurley came up with a way to help locals celebrate safely at home with the Mex 1 New Year’s Eve party box. Online ordering is now available for the package featuring fajitas, queso, prosecco, margarita mix, NYE-themed props and more.
“I started thinking that no one will be able to celebrate the ball drop at our favorite bars and events due to having to close at 11 p.m. with the new ordinance,” Hurley said. “So we started talking about what would you need to have a fun New Year’s at home and came up with great food, great drinks and some fun NYE accessories to ring in the New Year.”
Priced at $99, the party box has enough food, drinks and accessories to accommodate four people, a press release said. Steak and chicken fajitas with veggies come microwave-ready in a Cryovac bag with 12 tortillas and a platter featuring queso, guacamole and salsa with chips. The package also includes props — think hats, necklaces, noise-makers and custom made photo booth signs — along with Mex 1 margarita or hydrator mix and a bottle of prosecco to pop at midnight.
“We are always looking for fun ways for the customer to experience Mex 1 at home,” Hurley said. “For me, it’s about making sure the guest has a fun experience for New Year’s Eve at home this year, and we hope to be able to provide that for them.”
