- Robert Paige and the Holy City Sinners
Long-running Charleston blues-rock act Robert Paige and the Holy City Sinners will hit the stage for the last time this week with a show at Fiery Ron’s Home Team BBQ in West Ashley (1205 Ashley River Road) on Sat. Dec. 4.
Singer-guitarist Paige spent time playing rhythm and slide guitar in notable Atlanta blues-rock band the Urban Shakedancers before relocating to Charleston several years ago. With the support of the Holy City Sinners — Matt Kearney, Kenny Price, Daniel Jones, Joshua Kohl, and Chris Duvall — Paige established himself as a great lead player and singer handling traditional Delta and Chicago-style blues.
“One of our favorite people and musicians picked us for his final performance with Holy City Sinners,” reads a listing on the Home Team website. “Recent opportunities have sent band members off into the sunset, searching to fulfill the success they so readily deserve. On this day, we say thank you.”
Paige tells City Paper that he’s just not digging the bar scenes and late nights: “It’s just time to move on,” he says. “I’m looking to do something musically that reflects the kind of life I live today.”
