The good times certainly rolled as the Lowcountry Parrothead Club hosted their fifth annual Mardi Crawl pub crawl Saturday at Shem Creek. Adventurous participants sported feather boas and carnival masks to get in the spirit. Some were even so generous as to toss party beads to their less decorated peers. Groups followed maps to stops which included RB’s, Water’s Edge, Vickeries, and Shem Creek Bar and Grill. Naturally, the Parrotheads’ home base, Red’s Icehouse, served as the event’s starting point and after-party hub. The deck at Red’s was crowded with a mix of Hawaiian T-shirts and Corona-toting boaters while the Cabana Bar at Water’s Edge featured a hula-hooping tent that proved to be the perfect bar-side distraction. As more subdued partakers enjoyed Jimmy Buffet trivia at RB’s, some were overheard debating which Buffet track was their favorite. After a Saturday spent on Shem Creek, the hands-down answer: “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere.” This party with a purpose raised cash for the South Carolina chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, a cause embraced by Parrothead chapters across the nation. —Angela Hanyak
