Whatever it is that SC GOP head Karen Floyd is smoking, I want a bit of it. At the very least to take the edge off of this dagblasted primary hangover. Cause whatever it is that she’s got, it’s frikkin’ second chakra releasing good.
For one, she somehow got it in her head that Jim DeMint and Nikki Haley are running on the same ticket or at least that’s what she told a crowd of 250 at a recent GOP unity breakfast, according to the P&C.
Now, if we were a state that allowed gubernatorial candidates and their lite guv counterparts to run on the same ticket, that would be one thing — but that kind of thing doesn’t happen in the Palmetto State. Maybe Floyd wasn’t aware of that when she spoke of a DeMint-Haley ticket. I’ll just assume that she wasn’t.
Oh, wait. What’s that you say? DeMint’s not running for governor and Haley’s not running for the LT?
What the hell is Floyd talking about then?
Maybe I read that P&C article all wrong. Let me check again. According to the P&C:
“Our own DeMint-Haley ticket will be compared to and contrasted against none other than the Greene-Sheheen Democrat Machine,” Floyd told an enthusiastic crowd of roughly 250 for the GOP’s unity breakfast in Columbia.
Wait. Wait. Did she really just say that Alvin “The Mystery Man from Manning” Greene is part of the Democratic Party machine?
What in the Sam Hill? Alvin Greene is the most anti-establishment candidate in this race, in either party. Yeah, he may talk like a robot that’s running low on battery power, but Greene is as far removed from the machine as any candidate in Palmetto State history.
As for her attempt to link Sheheen to Greene, well, it’s a clever move. I’ll admit that. After all, there’s a good chance that the average voter has no idea that DeMint-Haley and Greene-Sheehen aren’t joined at the ballot-box hip.
Well done, Karen. Well done. You saved Sarah Conner.
