Yeah, we already know he’s a culinary genius, but Chef Sean Brock of McCrady’s has been tapped by the High Museum of Art in Atlanta to be a guest chef at its annual wine auction themed “The Genius Inside.” Last year, Chef Mike Lata of FIG had the honor and we can only assume that he recommended his pal for this high profile food and wine event. Or perhaps it was Brock’s own connection to the coordinating chef, Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene in Atlanta. It’s a small world that these chefs operate in. Hopkins was also, along with Lata and Brock, a 2008 James Beard nominee. He is also a boardmember of the Southern Foodways Alliance, which just had a big event, and he’s scheduled to cook the Dine Around with Lata at this year’s Charleston Food + Wine festival.

The event will happen over the course of March 25-28, with several dinners, auctions, and events combining to raise big bucks for Atlanta’s contemporary art museum. Last year, they raked in $2.1 million in profit! Gasp.

If you’re a high rolling wine lover, you might want to make plans to attend this event. The wine guests will be Louis-Fabrice Latour of Maison Louis Latour; Beth Nickel of Far Niente, Dolce, and Nickel & Nickel; Sergio Esposito of Italian Wine Merchants; and Martine Saunier of Martine’s Wines Inc. The 2009 Friend-in-wine is Steve Reynolds, owner of Reynolds Family Winery.

Other participating guests include Chef Scott Boswell of New Orleans’s Stella! and Stanley; Chef Sam Mason of New York’s Tailor; and the coordinating chef Lincoln Stevens of A Legendary Event.
