After having to close for two and a half months due to COVID-19, Sermet’s owner Sermet Aslan is especially grateful to be awarded “Best Daniel Island Restaurant” for the fifth year in a row. “I think everyone should be awarded for enduring this past year,” he said.
Now that Sermet’s has reopened, Aslan is excited to get back to “as normal as possible” and feeding the neighborhood regulars that they rely on.
“Daniel Island is pretty limited to outside influence. There are no tourists,” he said. “The people who live here are the ones who keep you going.”
“I’m fortunate because they knew how difficult of a time it was, especially for food and beverage, and as soon as we opened the door, they showed their compassion and loyalty,” he said. “I’m trying to respond as good as possible to them.”
