Didn’t score a ticket to Shovels & Rope’s outdoor gig at the Royal American later this month? Never fear: the sloppy tonk duo have done gone and booked another gig the following day at their old-school HQs, the Pour House. Billed as An Evening with Shovels & Rope (no openers), the show is at 7 p.m. on Sun. Oct. 28.

Before Shovels & Rope hit the Americana Music Awards hard, landed that first slot on Letterman, and subsequently “blew up,”  the two called the Pour House home. Circa 2010-2012, you could often find Cary Ann Hearst and Michael Trent — in-between jaunts on the road with the likes of Jason Isbell, Justin Townes Earle, and the Felice Brothers — tearing through songs on the venue’s deck (via a residency or two) as well as on the inside stage.

Since then, the couple have made several PoHo appearances as part of the Shrimp Records Family Band but it’s been a good minute since just the two of them have let it rip at the venue.

The “Birmingham” duo’s last local show was back in April at High Water, the two-day festival the couple launched last year.

Tickets for this month’s intimate Pour House show are $40 and go on sale this Fri. Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. Head here for those bad boys, and good luck.
